- Trained Music Together Teacher
Melissa is an experienced Early Years Educator, with a Diploma in Children’s Services. Melissa has worked in a privately owned centre for over 17 years in both Pre-kinder and Kinder, more recently as an Additional Needs Support. Melissa’s interest, knowledge and skills increased as she received specialist training and consultancy in the areas of social thinking, brain development, sensory processing, Autism spectrum and supporting children with additional needs.
Melissa’s music journey began three years ago when she began taking her own two children and her two foster children to classes offered at Sunraysia Arts and Learning. Melissa quickly realised the powerful impact music has on a child’s development, trauma healing and family’s overall wellbeing. Music Together aligned with Melissa's own philosophy on child development and this sparked her passion for music learning. Melissa started learning to play guitar and djembe, she loved being able to share her new musical skills in her work with children. Melissa went on to pass the Music Together teacher training in 2019 and joined the amazing team at Sunraysia Arts and Learning.
Melissa continues her learning of guitar, ukulele, djembe, singing and studying music theory through AMEB. Melissa loves connecting with her community and is a member and secretary of Merbein Village Band and member of With One Voice Mildura Choir. Melissa loves being able to combine her love for children, music and connecting with diverse people at Sunraysia Arts and Learning.
